This exhibit will display a journey of my work as I push through taking risks and learning more about my subject matter. The artist statement published by the Museum states:
Daniel Augenstein’s art displays his journey of creative growth. The artist’s vision guides each brush stroke and pen mark from the piece’s conception to the framed work. The deeper and more complete the vision - the richer the result. The more informed - the closer to an intended goal. Through design experiments, research of others’ ideas, and searching for multiple right answers, Augenstein produces a wide variety of images showing his vision. The technical skill needed for drawing and painting must be practiced with a desire to improve. Taking risks with varied media and techniques can enable the artist to achieve visual results unexpected from the art staying within the comfort zone of prior works. Augenstein says, “As an artist and teacher for many years, I am still amazed by the act of creation. I am still learning!”
The Madison and Main Gallery in downtown Greeley, Colorado is opening it’s 33rd Winter Show called “Lights of Winter.” The gallery is located at 927 16th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80631 and is open M-F 10 to 6 and Saturdays 10 to 4.

Every year, the artists who show in the Governor's Art Show in Loveland, Colorado are invited to paint a piece of art during a "plein air" event. The work must be painted in just 2.5 hours and is later put up for auction as a fundraiser for the Loveland Rotary Club who sponsors the Governor's show. This year they invited artists who were not accepted to be in the show. That includes me!
Come out to downtown Loveland and check out the painters working fast and furious. We will all have balloons flying above our easels and be located within walking distance of the Re-fine-d Gallery on 225 East 4th Street. Call or check in at the gallery for our approximate locations. At 2:00 much of the work will be auctioned off to raise money for the Rotary activities throughout the calendar year with starting bids of $100.
In the thumbnail you can see Pam Osborn holding the "plein air" piece I did in May of 2015. The event was held at her historic farm and she bought my piece at the auction!
A to Z in the Garden is the theme for this year's Garden Show which is curated by me and Susan Nelson at Greeley, Colorado's Madison and Main Gallery at 927 16th Street. The letter that I drew in the alphabet lottery was "Q." I will show a small 8"x10" oil of a quince branch in full bloom.
